Storing Hazardous Waste
To start, ensure any hazardous waste is placed in separate packaging to avoid unknown reactions. If needed, double bag to avoid any leaking, seal the bagging, then place bags into individual containers/bins. Before placing it in the bin, making sure the hazardous substance will not react with the packaging or the bin.
Depending on how dangerous the substance is, it should either be kept next to where the waste was generated while being watched, or in its own area away from reactants and staff. Finally, make sure to tag the container the waste is in as hazardous so no one interacts with it.
